Melbourne’s Big Smoke create a sound that dances its way through the history of rock ‘n’ roll. With pop, country and soul sensibilities supporting personal, hard-fought-and-won lyrics, the band journeys towards its true north, the classic song.
With its origins as a collective then solo project helmed by singer-songwriter Adrian Slattery, Big Smoke galvanised as a four-piece band in mid-2014 with the introduction of Luke Brennan on drums, Alex O’Gorman on bass and Tim ‘Big Dog’ Baker on guitar. Performing with great passion and command, the band is fast becoming known as a group of serious players with serious songs, drawing comparisons to The Band and Big Star or the modern class of Alabama Shakes and The War On Drugs.
Big Smoke will be joined by their good mates New Gods, returning to live performance after a well-earned sabbatical after the release of 2014’s acclaimed album Beloved. Check it out at http://belovedalbum.com/ to get an earful of pop bliss. And come to the Yarra for the full sonic experience!
