Aboriginal artist LJ Hill will be coming down from country NSW to perform his captivating songs accompanied by Brendan Gallagher (Karma County/ producer for Jimmy Little) on guitar. LJ Hill has released two albums produced by Gallagher on the Laughing Outlaw label and the two are currently working on a third. LJ Hill’s song The Little Bird Tree which appears on the recent reissue Buried Country compilation (based on Clinton Walker’s book and documentary) was recently covered by Irish singer Pauline Conlan.
Mixing blood from Aboriginal, Irish and Cherokee sources is a rich, soulful cocktail that gives LJ a deep well in which to dip for stories of love, loss, hope and despair. Hill’s stunning voice will hold you spellbound.
LJ Hill’s music is unique in a world of computer generated melody and song. His world weary voice tells a story of struggle and hardship countered by delicate melody lines when he sings of love and unrequited love in both the city and the bush.
LJ Hill is a gentle big bear of a man who looks back at his colourful past to create his music. He is man whose past includes expertise in Rugby League football, rodeo bull riding, shearing shed work and “Gentleman of the streets” in Melbourne and Sydney. He has many stories to tell, and LJ tells them in a most unique manner.
