Monnone alone + deep scene + ekranoplans

Monnone Alone resurface at the Yarra Hotel on Friday, February 3. Described by Mess+Noise as “classic indie pop with groggy vocals worthy of Stephen Pastel”, Monnone Alone’s sound has been shaped by the likes of Jonathan Richman, Television Personalities and the Go-Betweens. Led by former Lucksmiths bassist Mark Monnone, the group features members of Ciggie Witch, Baptism of Uzi and Kisschasy.

Deep Scene are a recently formed power-pop trio based around the songwriting of Darren Cordeux (Kisschasy, White Caves). With their sweet and sweaty Big Star/Replacements summertime hooks, the band are rapidly winning fans and are looking to put out their debut LP sometime this year.

Playing their first ever show, Ekranoplans is a beat group named from very large Soviet-era transport vehicles. Sounding something like a combination of Sleaford Mods and Hawkwind, the band comprises members of Pink Stainless Tail, Earthmen, Peachfuzz and Slub.
