Millar Jukes Scottish born singer-songwriter, Millar Jukes, has brought his unique take on Americana music to Australia and, together with his new band, The Bandits, has been sharing his bittersweet blend of upbeat love songs and darker, more intense musical stories with audiences across Melbourne throughout this year.
Inspired by Ray Lamontagne, Millar started writing heartfelt songs that he performed around his hometown of Wishaw, just outside of Glasgow, developing his distinctly gritty vocal style, before migrating to Melbourne in 2011.
At the start of 2013, Millar formed his new band, The Bandits, consisting of Jazzy Fiske on bass, Ty Noble on drums and Matt Sandilands on lead guitar. Throughout the year, the band have been playing gigs in and around Fitzroy, as well as spending time in the studio. The first fruit of their musical labour was their debut single, ‘Love Me All Night’, which they launched to a full house at The Grace Darling Hotel in October.
In their first year, they have played with Sal Kimber and The Rolling Wheel at the Northcote Social Club, as well as The Merri Creek Pickers and songstress Krista Polvere.
Coming from a musical family, Millar’s brothers are in a band of their own called the Vigo Thieves, who are currently taking the UK by storm.
